Childhood memories of gathering flower petals and mashing them in an attempt to create perfume because how hard could it possibly be (??!) and then being completely befuddled at the atrocious smells coming from the concoctions I’d created; spending time with my Nana when she worked as a florist and watching in awe as she pulled flowers seemingly at random and magically created the most beautiful floral arrangements I’d ever seen in my life; staying at my grandparents’ house and ceremoniously placing each lost tooth carefully under the fairy tree so the tooth-fairy could pick it up and reward us with a coin - these are some of the childhood memories I absolutely cherish. My grandfather had meticulously placed small figurines of gnomes, mushrooms, frogs and fairy’s underneath the fairy tree and you had to bend down to peek under the foliage in order to spot the magical wonderland he’d so lovingly created for his grandkids. It’s this magic that I’d forgotten. Life became serious, responsibilities took priority, my career became my focus and burnout replaced the magic.
My world changed in 2021 when my much-loved father passed away far too early. I knew things needed to change. I have a young son and wanted him to see that life is full of possibilities, not constraints. So, I followed my heart and Flowers & Faeries was born.
My sole (soul!) desire is to give the gift of permission - to slow down, even for an hour. To remind people that their wellbeing matters and to take the time to attend to themselves. Our world is busy, the demands can be huge – but in amongst it, we must always remember ourselves.
So, I set about creating little boxes of magic and using my gifts, I selected ‘themes’ and got to work.
Whether it’s a gift for a friend or family member, or a little treat for you – I am grateful you’ve found Flowers & Faeries and I hope you love my gift boxes as much as I’ve loved creating them.
